Contour Study
What?
We will learn about many types of contour drawings and practice them. We will take that practice drawing and turn it into a colorful artwork using a variety of media.
Why?
Contour drawing can have many benefits for an artist. These are just a few that I came up with:
-
To help with hand-eye coordination
-
To help with becoming more aware of details and surroundings
-
To help slow down the drawing process
-
To help bring joyful, soothing, or meditative feelings
Requirements:
-
Size choices: 11"x14" 12"x18" 16"x20" 18"x24"
-
Media: student choice
-
Must show contour lines that create volume and outlines of values.
-
Contour lines can be regular, continuous, cross, or blind.
-
Topic: student choice - still life, portrait, animal, imagination, etc.
