Mrs. Kristi Bernstein | Art Teacher
Hi! I am art teacher Mrs. Bernstein. It wasn't until after college that I decided to pursue my teacher certification. I went to college to continue to study fine art photography, something I learned about from my high school photography teacher Coach Jerry Bethel and my Granny Rose. I always dreamed of being a photographer for Sport Illustrated and did work for two different university news papers during my college years photographing lots of sports.
In 2005 I married my college sweetheart after college graduation and took an office job while pursuing photography jobs on weekends. In 2006 my husband was granted an amazing opportunity to pursue his lifelong dream of being a Texas Game Warden. This lead me to get my teacher certification. I have always loved school and my teachers. I always wanted to be a teacher but didn't know if I possessed the qualities needed to be an impactful teacher.
It's funny how things work out. On my third teacher interview, I recognized a former football coach from my old high school. The coach was now the assistant principal for this school I was interviewing. Small towns are great! I'm pretty sure that's how I got the job. I had no teaching experience, except my wonderful art classes from high school and college. (Thank you Mr. Fagner, Jim Bob Salazar, Carol Fairlie, and a TA named Etienne!!) I am so thankful to my first principals Mr. Barry Gann and Mr. Lynn Ford for taking a chance on me. I have found my dream job of being an art teacher.
