Contour Study

What?

We will learn about many types of contour drawings and practice them. We will take that practice drawing and turn it into a colorful artwork using a variety of media.

Why?

Contour drawing can have many benefits for an artist. These are just a few that I came up with:

  • To help with hand-eye coordination

  • To help with becoming more aware of details and surroundings

  • To help slow down the drawing process

  • To help bring joyful, soothing, or meditative feelings

Requirements:

  • Size choices: 11"x14", 14"x17", 12"x18"

  • Media: watercolor and markers or just markers

  • Must show contour lines that create volume and value. Contour lines can be regular, continuous, cross, or blind.
